Introducing Queila, Passionate beauty lover and CEO of My Beauty Squad.

How did your passion for beauty grow into wanting to have your own company?

Having worked in hospitality before, I have a passion in providing a good service and I've always loved to make people feel good. When I couldn’t find that in beauty, I gathered together my knowledge in both industries to create something truly inspiring for the everyday woman. Working in beauty is really fulfilling and the amazing hard-working people behind it, is what made me want to have my own company.

Moving across the world to a new country and building a business from scratch is a vision a lot of people strive for but struggle finding ways to begin, what would you say was one of the most important things to keep in mind when putting your ideas into practice?

Just do it. If you think too much about the details you will find so many reasons why it can't work out. Dive in head first and have the tenacity to learn quickly and adapt even quicker! It’s also important to have a solid vision of what you want to achieve, so that will keep you motivated through all the obstacles.

Being a business owner must be difficult as there’s always so much responsibility, how do you keep level headed when things get rough?

It’s important to have down time and look at how much you achieved. We are always concentrating on what we haven't done instead of what we have done and it can make us feel anxious like we achieved nothing. Having a good, positive team also helps and people that you can rely on when you need to talk. Also, do take care of your spiritual health!

The beauty Industry is quite a dense community - what do you think is the best way to stand out from the crowd?

When something comes from the heart it stands out. Make sure to share your story, be honest and don’t be ashamed of who you are. The beauty industry has a lot of people trying to portray perfection but for me beauty is all about being confident with your flaws.

A boss babe definitely has ups & downs on the job, what would you say has been one of your favourite memories since starting My Beauty Squad?

Every day is my favourite memory to be very honest, to wake up in the morning and think that I have an amazing group of women working towards something bigger than ourselves is a true privilege. To think about how much we achieved and how much we are going to achieve is what makes me most excited and every small victory is a highlight for me. It always makes me happy to see our app, Sabrina’s care with our team of beauticians and Giselle’s designs! These are all memories that someday we will look back and think – did we really do all that by ourselves?

Determination, if I tell you I will go to the moon I will work 24/7 to find a way to get there!
